So this is a blog about change–becoming less and becoming more.
Sometimes, this blog is about lifestyle transformation–I can stand to change my lifestyle. I do not take care of my body as well as I do my mind or my spirit, but I want to! I could always eat more consciously, and more conscientiously. I could live in a such a way that tends to the planet and honors creation rather than a way that consumes a disproportionate amount of its resources. I am sober and I am in recovery. I think I’m an okay guy.
Sometimes, this blog is about an expansive canon–about what is interesting, engaging and influential in my life. I wanted to read more diverse and challenging writers, so I began to do so. I wanted to write things that challenge and bless, so I do. I want to review books that I love (and those I am sent and consent to review!) so that others might be interested, engaged or influenced for good, too.
Sometimes, this blog is about cultivating interests and hobbies. I like to bake. I am a lapsed bookbinder who’s obsessed with ink, papercraft and mosaic. I even run or play TTRPGs on occasion, but less often than I’d like.
Sometimes, this blog is about spiritual development, for lack of a better term. I was a congregational pastor for nearly twenty years, and for the sake of my personhood and my soul, I had to walk away from my last congregation. I am on a break from congregational ministry–I am not on a break from my faith. I like to write liturgy. I’m studying the Pauline letters (it’s a whole thing, trust me). I might outline a sermon or make a theological argument on occasion.
Honestly, I don’t know if this is for you or not. I think that’s up to you. I suggest you take what you need and leave the rest. I know I’ll be doing the same.
